Testimonials

For me, WAVE contact lens technologies set the standard in modern contact lens fitting. The ability to design individual lens geometries precisely according to topographical data and individual eye shape means that even complex corneal shapes can be reliably treated.
This combination of precision, flexibility and genuine customisation enables us to offer patients exceptionally high spontaneous tolerance and visual quality.
A tool that not only makes our daily work more efficient, but also visibly improves our results.

At Pfarrer Contact Lenses, we have spent 50 years dedicated to improving quality of life with contact lenses, offering a personal and attentive service.
Occasionally, challenging cases reveal the limitations of conventionally manufactured rigid gas-permeable (RGP) lenses.
The WAVE Contact Lens System® uses free-form technology to create precisely fitting night, scleral and corneal lenses.

The system offers full control over contact lens fitting and adjustments based on profilometry measurements, all without compromising on expertise.

Working with WAVE has reshaped the way I think about contact lens fitting in my practice. What I value most is the sense of possibility it brings. Cases that once seemed difficult or uncertain now feel open, manageable — and genuinely solvable. The level of customisation is extraordinary. With WAVE, each cornea receives a design uniquely tailored to that eye. In keratoconus, irregular corneas, high astigmatism — I am no longer trying to fit the patient to the lens. I fit the lens to the patient.
In Orthokeratology, WAVE allows me to refine centration, control optical zones, and successfully fit myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and even presbyopia. It gives me the confidence to say: “Yes, we can do this — and we can do it well.”
WAVE encourages a higher level of clinical precision and attention. It asks you to be thoughtful and intentional — but what it gives in return is transformative: the ability to deliver clear, comfortable, truly personalised visual outcomes. Once you begin working with WAVE, your approach to speciality lens fitting evolves. There is no going back — only forward, with more clarity, more solutions, and more patients whose lives are changed by a lens that genuinely fits them.

The Precision Tool of Modern Contact Lens Design. The WAVE software has become our true precision tool in the design and manufacturing of freeform contact lenses based on profilometry.
By accurately combining topographic and profilometric data with completely freeform design capabilities, we have been able to solve cases that once seemed impossible, providing fully customized solutions even for the most irregular corneal geometries.
Thanks to its intuitive interface, advanced simulation tools, and our close collaboration with the WAVE team, we can work with micrometric precision, optimizing every lens in real time to ensure perfect fit, exceptional visual quality, and superior comfort. WAVE represents for us a true turning point in specialty contact lens practice — an indispensable partner that allows us to deliver the best possible visual outcomes for our patients.

I have been designing all my rigid lenses for more than 27 years. The process became much easier with the introduction of corneal topography for both corneal and orthokeratology lenses. However, when it came to scleral lenses, even with the availability of corneoscleral profilometry, designing lenses that achieved optimal alignment remained time-consuming. With the introduction of WAVE in Europe, everything changed.
It has been both a game-changer and a life-changer for me—making lens design faster and easier while significantly reducing the need for lens reorders and chair time.
Although some complex cases still require additional time during the design phase, I consider that time an investment that ultimately saves hours later by minimizing modifications and follow-up visits.

WAVE and Eyeprint contact lens fitting technologies represent the pinnacle of customized vision care. By using advanced topography or ocular surface impression mapping, they allow practitioners to design lenses that match the exact curvature and contour of each individual eye. This has the potential to result in exceptional visual clarity, greater all-day comfort, and healthier lens wear.
For patients with irregular corneas, surface disease or just high prescriptions, WAVE and EyePrint fittings deliver a truly personalized, precise, and life-enhancing contact lens experience.

FAQ

WAVE Contact Lens System

The WAVE system uses topographic and tomographic measurement data to design customized freeform lenses. After scanning the cornea with a suitable measuring device, the data can be easily imported into the WAVE software to create a tailor-made lens design, which is then manufactured with precision.

WAVE lenses are based on the individual topographical and tomographical data of the eye. This results in anatomically precise freeform lenses with more comfort, improved vision quality and reduced chair time. The software offers full control over all design parameters, enabling an efficient and reproducible fitting process.

The following measurement technologies work seamlessly with WAVE:

  • OCULUS Pentacam® Cornea OCT
  • OCULUS Pentacam® AXL Wave
  • OCULUS Pentacam® AXL
  • OCULUS Pentacam® HR
  • OCULUS Pentacam®
  • Medmont Meridia
  • Medmont E300
  • OCULUS Keratograph 5M
  • OCULUS Keratograph 4
  • OCULUS Easygraph
  • Eaglet Eye Surface Profiler
  • Topcon MYAH
  • Topcon CA-800
  • Other corneal topography systems*

An official WAVE Training ensures that all functions of the software can be used safely and efficienty. Contact us for more information.

Eyeprint Prosthetics

EyePrint Prosthetics is ideal for patients with complex or highly asymmetrical eye surfaces. This includes advanced keratoconus, post-operative eyes (e.g. corneal transplants or refractive surgery), irregular scleral geometries, and cases where conventional scleral lenses do not provide a stable or comfortable fit. These lenses are often the best option for highly sensitive patients or those with a strong foreign body sensation.

To take the high-precision impression of the entire ocular surface, a medically safe material is applied directly to the eye.
The actual impression process takes between 1.5 minutes to a maximum of 2.5 minutes and captures the anatomy of the cornea, conjunctiva, and sclera. After the material hardens, the impression is carefully removed and sent to the EyePrint laboratory for digital processing. The procedure is painless and very well tolerated by most patients.
